Telecommuting is a work arrangement in which an employee's daily commute to a central place of work is replaced by telecommunication links from the home or another location. Telecommuting saves the employee both time and cost of commuting.

"Telecommuting just one day a week could save up to 5.85 billion gallons of oil and eliminate over 65 million metric tons (roughly 143 billion pounds) of carbon dioxide each year nationwide" according to Fight Global Warming.
